Iran President Offers Condolences to Oman on Sultan Qaboos Death

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed condolences to the ruler and people of Oman on the death of the late Sultan of the Arab country Qaboos bin Said al Said.

 

In a message to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, Rouhani highlighted Sultan Qaboos’s efforts for the progress and his country as well as his role in the promotion of good ties between Tehran and Muscat.

He described Sultan Qaboos as a prudent politician who played a major role in enhancing regional peace and stability.

The Iranian president wished Divine blessings for the late Sultan Qaboos and prosperity for the people of Oman.

 Oman named Haitham bin Tariq as the new ruler on Saturday, hours after it announced the death of Sultan Qaboos.

Qaboos was 79, and ruled Oman for five decades before his death Friday. He overthrew his father in a bloodless coup in 1970, becoming the longest serving Arab leader.
