TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights underlined the need for an end to Israeli apartheid and racism amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In a letter released on Monday, the center called on international organizations and personalities to put pressure on the Zionist regime to end its apartheid policies in the Gaza Strip.

It also condemned recent remarks by Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett who has stipulated allowing aid transfer to Gaza on release of Israeli prisoners.

Such inhumane and immoral stances threaten the lives of two million Palestinian citizens who are already in very difficult conditions due to the illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza, the letter reads.

The center called for international action to end the siege of Gaza and facilitating efforts to fight the spread of the coronavirus in the coastal enclave.

Blockaded and impoverished, Gaza has reported 12 coronavirus cases and authorities worry that local health facilities – with just 96 ventilators for a population of 2 million – are insufficient to contain a contagion.
