Mustafa Barghouti said the occupied areas, including 60 percent of the West Bank, are at risk of spread of the disease due to the Israeli discriminatory policies and negligence, Safa news agency reported.
He added that Palestinians residing in these areas are worried that the coronavirus can spread there from nearby Zionist settlements.
There are also concerns that Israeli forces that frequently raid Palestinian towns and villages may be carrying the virus, he said.
The COVID-19 disease, caused by the new coronavirus, was transmitted from wildlife to people in the Chinese city of Wuhan late last year. It has affected 210 countries and territories across the globe. It has so far infected nearly two million people and killed over 120,000.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has already declared the outbreak a global pandemic.
Official figures by Palestine’s Health Ministry shows that as of Monday, 290 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and two others have died so far in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.
