Adhan Broadcast via Mosques’ Loudspeakers in Toronto
TEHRAN (IQNA) – For the first time in Canada, Adhan (call to prayers) was broadcast via loudspeakers of some mosques in Toronto.
The municipality allowed the broadcast of Adhan as mosques in the city are closed to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus, according to siasa.com.
A board member of the Jama Masjid in Toronto described it a welcome move for the Muslims, saying any Muslim would like that Adhan is always called on loudspeakers.
As for whether there can be a permanent permission for this, the prayer leader of Toronto’s Medina Mosque said it would depend on the neighbor’s reaction.
If the public’s response to Adhan being broadcast via loudspeakers in the month of Ramadan is favorable, Muslims could seek permanent permission for it, he added.
Toronto Muslims have welcomed the move and taken to social media to thank the mayor.
