In the statement, Al-Azhar underlined the Islamic and Arab identity of Jerusalem al-Quds and said occupation and aggression are doomed to end in failure, RT Arabic reported.
It said the issue of Palestine will always remain in the hearts of Muslim nations.
The statement stressed the need for the world community to end the occupation of Palestinian lands and bring the occupying regime of Israel to justice.
The Nakba Day is marked annually on May 15. It refers to the forcible expulsion of some 700,000 Palestinians from their lands in 1948 and their scattering across refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza, and neighboring countries.
