TEHRAN (IQNA) – Senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzook said the measures taken by US President Donald Trump in support of the Zionist regime of Israel failed to help him in the US election.

In a post on his Twitter account, Abu Marzook said Trump’s support for Israel did not benefit him.

For all his moves and enmities against the Palestinian nation (to appease Israeli lobbies), including relocation of the US embassy to Jerusalem al-Quds, support for settlement building in occupied Palestinian lands, and attempts to trample on the rights of Palestinian refugees, Trump is going to be gone, he said.

Abu Marzouk further underlined that the Palestinians would continue their struggle against occupation so that all Palestinian lands are liberated and refugees return home.

On Saturday and after four days of uncertainty over US election results, Democratic candidate Joe Biden eventually surpassed the 270 electoral votes he needed to oust Trump, who had expressed confidence he would secure a second term.

As signs of Biden's victory were becoming clearer, Trump vigorously repeated his allegations of electoral fraud and vowed to force a recount in some swing states. After the race was called by multiple news organizations, Trump released a statement claiming the election was "far from over" and vowing to take it to the courts, but analysts say he has very little chance of changing the outcome of the vote.
