TEHRAN (IQNA) – Hussein Shalchi, an eminent Iranian Qari, came first in an online Quran recitation competition held in Iraq.

He told IQNA that the competition was held in three stages and from among the large number of participants, 40 Qaris were selected to compete in the second stage.

It was supervised by a four-member group of Iraqi Quran experts in Sowt, Lahn, Tajweed, and Waqf and Ibtida.

He said that in such competitions that are totally held online, not only the costs can be reduced but the evaluation can be done more precisely since the arbiters have more time to listen to the Quran recitations of the participants.

Shalchi added that among other benefits, online Quran competitions can attract more people to this field.

The Qari had previously won the first rank at an international Quran recitation competition held in Bahrain in 2018.

He said that the competition in Bahrain was also held in three online stages and participants from Iran, Bahrain, Indonesia, Syria and Morocco were invited to Bahrain to attend the final stage.
