Egypt’s 28th Int’l Quran Contest Slated for December

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egyptian Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa announced that the 28th edition of the African country’s international Quran competition will be held in December.

 

According to al-wafd.news, he said the competition will be held from December 11 to 15.

He added that a sum of 1 million Egyptian Pounds has been earmarked for organizing the Quranic event.

Memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed and Quranic concepts with Tarteel recitation of the Quran for Arabic speakers is the first category of the contest.

Male and female participants in the first category should be under 35 years of age.

The second category, planned for those under 30, includes memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed for non-Arabic speakers.

Quran memorization for the disabled is the third category, which is held for Egyptian nationals under 30.

Memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed for Egyptian teenagers under 12 years of age is the fourth category.

The official added that Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs will award cash prizes totaling 140,000 Egyptian Pounds to top participants who score at least 75 out of 100 points in each category.

The ministry will send formal invitation letters to religious centers abroad inviting foreign Quran activists to participate at the international Quran competition, he said.
