Two New Categories Planned for Egypt’s Int’l Quran Competition

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s Awqaf Minister announced that two new categories will be added to the country’s international Quran competition.

 

Speaking in a meeting with imams of mosques and women preachers, Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa said the two categories are memorization of Quran along with interpretation for imams of mosques and Quran memorization for women preachers, el-Yom website reported. 

He added that winners of each of these categories will receive a cash prize of 50,000 Egyptian pounds.

The Awqaf minister called on those willing to take part in the competition in these categories to submit their application to the organizing committee by October 15.

The 28th edition of Egypt’s international Quran competition will be held on December 11-15 in the capital Cairo.

The Awqaf ministry has sent invitations to foreign countries to introduce their contender in the Quranic event.
