3,000 Copies of Quran Distributed in Chad

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) distributed 3,000 copies of the Holy Quran in Chad.

 

The copies were handed out among Quran memorization centers and orphanages in the north-central African country, Yeni Safak reported.

The distribution was part of a campaign launched by Diyanet dubbed “Let’s Quran Be My Gift”.

Officials of a number of Turkish religious institutions were present at the ceremony to held Sunday distribute the Qurans.

Implementing the campaign started in 2015 with the aim of conveying the message of the Holy Book to as many people as possible, according to Diyanet officials.

Another part of the initiative is translating the Quran into different languages with the motto “Do not let any language remain without the Quran’s message.”

The Republic of Chad is a landlocked country in north-central Africa. It is bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon to the south-west, Nigeria to the southwest, and Niger to the west.

According to a census held in 2014-15, more than 52 percent of the country’s population is Muslim.
