TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held on Wednesday night in Gaza to commemorate the memorization of the Holy Quran by 1,000 girls and boys.

The event was organized by the Dar-ol-Quran Al-Karim and Sunnah Center with the participation of a number of lawmakers, political figures, and representatives from the Awqaf Ministry, Anadolu reported.

These 1,000 girls and boys managed to commit Quran to memory during the past months by attending Quranic courses in the region.

Recitation of some verses of the Quran and performance of Tawasheeh (religious singing) was among the programs of this event.

Addressing the ceremony, Abdul Rahman Al-Jamal, head of the administrative council of the center, appreciated the efforts of organizations and institutes that supported the Quran memorization plans.

Bilal Emad, head of Dar-ol-Quran Al-Karim and Sunnah Center, said that since its establishment in 1992, the center has educated 30,000 men and women Quran memorizers.

Dar-ol-Quran is a non-governmental organization that is supported by philanthropists and its aim is to educate the people of Gaza with Quran memorization and recitation, as well as hadith.
