TEHRAN (IQNA) – For the first time after three months, worshippers attended Friday prayers at the Nazla Mosque in Egypt’s Fayoum Governorate, yesterday.

They had refused to hold prayers at the mosque since its walls and doors were decorated with Pharaonic drawings and designs, according to El-Balad News.

People and social media users had protested against the mosque’s designs for weeks, calling for their removal.

They said the mosque should have Islamic architecture.

The mosque was closed for three months to erase the designs and drawings and replace them with Islamic inscriptions.

Authorities have launched an investigation to find out why the engineers building the mosque have used such designs.
