Yusuf Sayyid Amer, head of the committee, has submitted the proposal, according to Misrawy.com website.

He said the new interpretation will highlight Islam’s moderation and counters extremism.

It would provide an answer to certain Hadiths that extremist groups refer to in order to justify their ideologies, Amer added.

Egyptian Awqar Minister Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa, who was present in a session of the committee discussing the proposal, supported the bid.

He said with the advance of time, people need more and more Quran interpretation works.

Gomaa noted that recently 3,000 copies of an English translation of Tafseer (interpretation) books have been printed and sold out in the country

He further said that committees are also working to choose what people need from Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim (books of Hadith).

In addition to that, an encyclopedia of sacred Hadiths as well as encyclopedias of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) have been compiled, the Awqaf minister stated.

He went on to say that efforts are being made to provide people with religious knowledge and information in a simple language.
