TEHRAN (IQNA) – Japan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia says he has been listening to the recitation of the Holy Quran to strengthen the Arabic language that he is remarkably proficient in.

Iwai Fumio

Iwai Fumio said in a post on Twitter on Sunday that he began listening to Surah Al-Fatiha, the first surah of the Noble Quran, “with the aim of strengthening and developing my Arabic language.”

The Japanese diplomat relies heavily on Twitter to communicate with the Saudis, as it attracts millions of them, and shares with them photos and videos of his ongoing activities in the Kingdom.

The ambassador also meets invitations to eat and learn about the most famous Saudi foods.

Ambassador Iwai studied the Arabic language about 3 decades ago in Egypt, where he resided for that purpose, to master it perfectly.

He was appointed as an ambassador to the Kingdom at the beginning of this year, and he had previously worked as a deputy ambassador in Riyadh 10 years ago. He was also his country’s ambassador to Iraq, and he was known for communicating with the population in their local language and dialects, which made him very popular.
