TEHRAN (IQNA) – A spokesman for Yemen’s army said that key sites in Dubai and Abu Dhabi were targeted with ballistic missiles and drones on Sunday night.

In an announcement on Monday, Brigadier General Yahya Saree revealed the latest Yemeni operation in the depth of Emirati soil, according to Russia Today Arabic.

During an operation dubbed Yemen Storm, maintained the spokesman, key sites in Abu Dhabi and Dubai were targeted with a number of Zolfaghar missiles and Samad-3 drones respectively.

As long as the mercenaries of the Zionist enemy in the UAE continue their aggression on Yemen, the Persian Gulf country will remain unsafe, he said.

He also warned civilians and companies to stay away from critical facilities inside the UAE which can be potential targets.

Reports indicated strong sounds of explosion late on Sunday an Emirati soil.

According to Al-Arabiya, the UAE air defense was activated last night, intercepting missiles. The Emirati defense ministry also said that the attacks left behind no material damages or casualties.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies, backed by the United States and European powers, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power and crushing the Ansarullah movement.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there.

Despite heavily-armed Saudi Arabia’s incessant bombardment of the impoverished country, the Yemeni armed forces have gradually grown stronger, leaving Riyadh and its allies, most notably the UAE, bogged down in the country.
