In a statement on Sunday, Zaher Jabarin, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, said, “We deny Hebrew media outlets’ reports on progress in the case,” Anadolu Agency reported.
There has been no progress in this regard because the Zionist occupiers have taken no serious steps, he added.
According to Jabarin, the Zionist regime’s statements released every now and then are meant to prevent protests and pressures on the regime from families of captured Israeli soldiers.
Earlier, the Israeli regime’s Channel 12 TV had quoted Knesset member Emilie Moatti as claiming that progress has been made toward a prisoner swap deal with Hamas.
The resistance group holds four Israelis captive. They include two soldiers captured during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip in 2014 and two others who entered Gaza under unclear circumstances.
Egypt acts as a meditator for a prisoner swap deal between Hamas and the Zionist regime.
