Speaking on the sideline of the Munich Security Conference, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud answered a question framed by an Israeli newspaper about Saudi Arabia’s stance regarding normalization.
The Saudi minister said that normalization is conditioned on a "just solution" for the Palestinian issue, according to TRT Arabic.
“The integration of Israel into the region will be very beneficial, not only for Israel itself but for the entire region,” he claimed.
Failure to respect the Palestinian’s sovereignty will strengthen extremism in the region, added the minister.
He also noted that dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis and reaching a settlement will make it easier for other states to decide about the situation.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia opened its airspace for Israeli planes and the move has been interpreted as a nod to normalization.
Back in September 2020, the United Aram Emirates and Bahrain signed normalization deals with Israel. Morocco and Sudan later signed similar agreements with the Israeli regime as well.
The so-called Abraham Accords were pushed by the US under former president, Donald Trump.
Palestinians have denounced the normalization deals, describing them as a “stab in the back” and a “betrayal” to their cause.
