Quran Teacher Remembered in Britain

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Ali Ramadan al-Awsi a Muslim scholar and Quranic researcher at the University of London who died earlier this month, was commemorated in a ceremony on Tuesday.

Memorial service for Al-Awsi

 

The memorial service was held at the Islamic Center of England and attended by teachers and students of the center as well as the Tebyan School.

They lit candles, recited the Quran and honored the memory of the late scholar, who was the director of Tebyan School.

Addressing the ceremony, Hojat-ol-Islam Mehdi Jafari highlighted the character of Al-Awasi and his services to the Quran and the Islamic community.

Al-Awsi passed away in London after a long illness.

He was a university of London professor and director of the Center for Southern Iraq Studies.

He was also a Middle East affairs analyst and had studies in religious and cultural fields as well.

Al-Awsi would always support proximity of Islamic schools of thought and served as secretary of several Islamic unity conferences.

“Allameh Tabatabei’s Method in Al-Mizan Exegesis” is one of his books, in which he has discussed the sources that Allameh Tabatabaei used in writing his Quran interpretation.
