On Saturday evening, the second night of Ramadan in Palestine, thousands of people performed Tarawih prayers in the holy mosque, RT reported.
The courtyards of the mosque were filled with worshipers who flocked after breaking their fast to perform Tarawih and Isha prayers.
Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem al-Quds, announced Saturday as the first day of Ramadan this year.
According to the Department of Islamic Endowments in Jerusalem al-Quds, nearly 50,000 worshipers performed Maghrib, Isha, and Tarawih prayers on the first day of Ramadan at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Streets leading to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound are under the strict control of Zionist military forces.
Earlier, Palestinian groups had warned the Israeli occupation of any provocation in the holy month of Ramadan as hundreds of thousands of Palestinians go to the Muslims’ third holiest mosque for prayers.
