TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior member of Lebanon’s Hezbollah said the group has been and will remain the most popular movement in the country.

Sheikh Nabil Qaouk

Sheikh Nabil Qaouk, member of Hezbollah’s Central Council, said the popularity will remain in place despite the ongoing media and political campaign against the resistance group, Al-Ahed News reported.

Speaking at a ceremony held to commemorate Hezbollah fighter Martyr Ali Yunus, he said the meddling by the United States and Saudi Arabia in Lebanon is obvious but for all their interference, Hezbollah is the most popular movement in the country.

He added that the enemies and ill-wishers will witness once again in the upcoming general elections that people support the resistance movement.

The mercenaries of the US and Saudi Arabia who are paid by the embassies of the two countries will not be able to alter the equations and influence the people of Lebanon, Sheikh Qaouk stressed.

He said the supporters of resistance are so noble and dear that they will never abandon the resistance for anything.

The cleric went on to say that the US and the Zionist regime want Lebanon to be another country in the region that joins the alliance of Israel and certain Persian Gulf Arab countries but this will never happen.

Lebanon’s 2022 general election is scheduled to be held on May 15.
