TEHRAN (IQNA) – Director of Islamic Seminaries Ayatollah Alireza Arafi says the variety of languages at the International Quran News Agency can help reflect Islamic teachings and knowledge across the world.

He made the remarks in a message on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of IQNA.

Naming “honesty” as one of the most important missions of the media, he said that just criticism, divine motivation, serving the society, creating a balance between the news items, and paying attention to the needs of the society are among other requirements of a news agency.

Undoubtedly, International Quran News Agency, which originates from Quranic and religious sources and teachings, has a heavier mission and should be more serious in these indicators, and should aim at moving according to religious criteria, he said.

Describing the diversity of IQNA’s covering languages as “invaluable”, he added, “The treasure of Islamic knowledge will resonate in the world when diverse linguistic capacities are used, existing capacities are strengthened, and all intellectual, cultural, literary and artistic tools are utilized.”

Great efforts of IQNA can untie the knots and prepare the ground for the next horizons, Arafi added.

He also wished success for the News Agency on this path.

International Quran News Agency celebrated its 19th anniversary on Ramadan 15 which fell on April 17 this year.

The number of languages that IQNA covers at the moment has reached 21. The Agency stands top of Iranian news agencies with regard to the number of covering languages.

IQNA believes that covering stories about the Holy Quran can play a significant role in achieving unity in the Islamic world.
