TEHRAN (IQNA) – Thousands of people attended Eid al-Fitr Prayers on Tuesday morning at the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) and the area in between, known as Bain-ul-Haramain.

The congregational prayers were held for the first time in two years as the situation over the pandemic has improved in Iraq, according to Non14.

Led by Mortada al-Qazwini, a prayer was staged in the courtyard between the two holy mosques, which was crowded with worshipers.

Addressing the event, Qazwini called on all people to thank God for placing the holy shrine of Ahl al-Bayt (SA) in Iraqi cities.

Lauding the security in Iraq, he also wished health and success to the Iraqi armed forces.

Eid prayer was held more than once in the holy shrines due to a large number of attendees.

The custodianships of the two shrines had mobilized all their capacities to host pilgrims on Eid al-Fitr.

Also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, Eid al-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world.

The observance traditionally begins with the sighting of the new moon of the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

The festival is a specific day on which Muslims are not permitted to fast.

The holiday celebrates the conclusion of 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The day of Eid falls on the first day of the month of Shawwal.
