Speaking in a joint press conference here on Thursday, Esmaeili welcomed al-Mortada and his accompanying delegation and said the Iranian administration seeks to promote ties with the Arab country in various areas, including culture and arts.
A cultural memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and Lebanon years ago will be updated and efforts will be made to elevate the cultural ties to the highest level, Esmaeili stated.
He said Iranians consider Lebanon as a dear country in the Muslim world that has created many glories at the forefront of the resistance against the Zionist enemy.
The two countries also share many historical commonalities, the culture minister noted, adding that many Lebanese scholars came to Iran in the past centuries and contributed to the scholarly works in the country.
The Lebanese official, for his part, thanked Esmaeili for inviting hi, to Iran and planning meetings with senior Iranian officials.
He also said the two nations will move on the path of boosting cultural relations.
