Lebanese Christian Cleric Lauds Peaceful Coexistence of Faiths in Iran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Curate of Mount Lebanon Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese Bishop Georges Saliba praised Iran as a model of fighting oppression and maintaining peaceful coexistence among followers of monotheistic faiths.

Bishop Saliba meets with Iranian cultural envoy

 

Bishop Saliba met with Iranian Cultural Attaché in Lebanon Abbas Khameyar in the Iranian Cultural Center in Beirut.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed cultural issues and dialogue among faiths.

They also stressed the need for development of cooperation with a focus on enhancing interfaith dialogue in order to foil the plots hatched by enemies of regional countries.

Bishop Saliba hailed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s stances in support of the world oppressed, saying Iran has always backed the oppressed in the face of hegemonic powers, especially the US.

He added that Iran has presented a role model in terms of fighting oppression and maintaining peaceful coexistence among monotheistic faiths.

The cleric further called for the development of cultural ties between Christians and Muslims.

Khameyar, for his part, welcomed Bishop Saliba and congratulated him on the new Christian year.

He also stressed Iran’s unchanging policy of countering colonialist plots and threats.

He added that Iran always invites followers of divine faiths to maintain fraternity and avoid discord.

Khameyar further expressed the Iranian Cultural Center’s readiness to publish Bishop Saliba’s works written about the Seerah of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
