Mina Mosque Prepared to Receive Hajj Pilgrims Again

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Al-Khaif Mosque in Mina, near the holy city of Mecca, is ready to receive pilgrims after two years of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was announced by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance. Represented by the Higher Committee for Hajj, Umrah and Visit, it has completed all necessary preparations to provide pilgrims with all needs to perform their rituals in full comfort and tranquility in a religious atmosphere.

The preparations included furnishing, cleaning, sanitization, maintenance for the air conditioning system, lighting, readying more than 1,000 toilets, counters for Islamic awareness, fatwa cabinets, increasing the number of electronic monitors, and assigning maintenance companies to work round the clock for cleaning and maintenance and dispatching field supervisors on maintenance works.

Al-Khaif Mosque has always received the care and attention of Muslim leaders throughout history. It witnessed its biggest expansion in 1407 Hijri. At present, the mosque with an area of 23,500 square meters can accommodate 25,000 worshippers.

The mosque has four minarets. It also has a complex of more than 1,000 toilets and 3,000 water taps for ablution.
