Lagos, the African country’s largest city, will host the event on August 8-9. It will be organized by the Nigerian Halal Certification Authority (HCA).

Speakers from the International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART) and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) will present their ideas and views on different aspects of the Halal industry.

Also speaking at the seminar will be Otunba Niyi Adebayano, the minister of industry, trade and investment of Nigeria, as well as Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, head of the Zakat and Endowment Commission of the Sokoto State.

The latter’s speech will be about “Halal for All: Between Sustainability and Profitability”.

At a virtual seminar on Nigeria’s Halal industry held last year with the participation of experts from Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, it was said that Africa can benefit a lot from the Halal industry for its economic development.

Nigeria also hosted an international Halal exhibition in September 2021 with the participation of companies from Turkey, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Tunisia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria and Egypt.

An Arabic term, Halal refers to things or actions which are permissible to use or engage in according to Sharia (Islamic law).
