TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian carpet has been registered in Malaysia’s Book of Records as the “First Locally Weaved Persian Carpet” in the Southeast Asian country.

In a ceremony held on August 26, the certificate for entry of the carpet to the record book was awarded to Reza Khani, creator of this silk carpet.

The ceremony was held at Bangsar Shopping Center Main Concourse, Kuala Lumpur, with the participation of Iranian ambassador to Malaysia Ali Asghar Mohammadi, Malaysia ambassador to Tehran Khairi Omar, and Iran’s cultural attache in the country Mohammad Oraei Karimi.

Speaking at the event, Khani said that the silk carpet that bears the national flag of Malaysia was weaved for 47 days a few months ago.

With a dimension of 110 in 65 cm, the carpet was weaved during a festival in March which aimed to introduce Iranian culture to Malaysian people.

Ambassador Mohammadi hailed the efforts of Iranian artists behind this carpet, noting that this can be a starting point for introducing Iranian-Islamic arts to Malaysia and to Southeast Asian countries.
