150,000 Students Sign Up for Quranic Courses in Jordan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Quran memorization courses in Jordan’s Quranic centers have been warmly welcomed by school students the Awqaf ministry said.

Jordanian Awqaf Minister Mohammad al-Khalaileh said more than 150,000 students have registered their names to take the courses.

He said the boys and girls in different age groups have signed up to memorize the Holy Quran, al-Ghad website reported.

According to Khalaileh, visually-impaired students learn the Quran by heart along with other students this year.

He stressed the need for raising a Quranic generation by encouraging students to take part in Quranic activities.  

He made the remarks at a ceremony held to mark the conclusion of summer Quranic courses.

The official also referred to the organization of the country’s international Quran competition and said Jordan was one of the first Muslim nations that resumed holding its international Quran contest after its suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He further highlighted the Awqaf ministry’s efforts to promote Quranic activities, including by printing copies of the Quran and organizing Quranic programs at the national and international levels.

 Everyone should also be guided by the Book of God in his conduct, behavior and words, he went on to say.
