TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final stage of the 22nd national Quran competition for the Iranian Army personnel’s family members and the Army’s female staff concluded on Tuesday.

Winners were announced and awarded at the closing ceremony held in the northeastern holy city of Mashhad.

In an address, head of the Army’s Ideo-Political Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Abbas Mohammadhassani underscored the need to set the grounds for promotion of the Quran, saying the Holy Book must be the criterion for all activities.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army is a frontrunner in this area.

Also speaking at the ceremony was Brigadier General Ali Reza Sabahifard, the commander of the Army’s Air Defense, who said there is no other army in the world whose actions are based on the teachings of the Quran like the Iranian Army.

He also said the Army is proud to be under the command of the Waliye Faqih (Leader of the Islamic Revolution).

More than 740 members of the Army personnel’s family members and female staff of the force took part in the final round of the competition.

It was organized in different categories, including memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran.
