Five Features of A Suitable Society According to Quran
All prophets came with one goal and that was to guide mankind toward excellence and perfection and establishment of a society that ensures security and justice. Prophets have offered various plans and points to guide people on this path.
Islam, too, has offered its own recommendations which have been mentioned in the Quran and also by its leaders.
According to the Quran, a suitable society should have a number of features and their realization will lead to prosperity for individuals. What follows are the most important features of a suitable society according to the Quran:
Faith: Faith is the most important feature of a Quranic society. Based on the Quran, the first steps on the path of guidance are to accept the religion and believe in the unseen such as in God, angels, Akhirah, Ma’ad. But this sole belief is not enough, rather, every individual or society should go through hard tests so that it can be determined how much they stick to their beliefs.
Intellect: A religious society is an intellectual society. This intellectuality means using wisdom in all affairs of life. Intellect does not let dreams and temptations dominate society and it will try to prevent deviations.
Knowledge: A suitable society will never act without having prior knowledge. All affairs are based on knowledge so that society is not directed towards ignorance. This ignorance naturally is against intellect and knowledge; because a society that sets intellectuality aside will end up in ignorance.
Justice: Justice is the closest route to achieving Taqwa. So a suitable religious society not only loves justice but also invites others to observe it as well and even tries to defend the rights of the oppressed.
Kindness: A suitable society will promote kindness in economic and social realms. Members will pay attention to this feature even in their personal lives. What gives beauty to society is the very feature of kindness and benevolence.
