More than 10,000 boys and girls studying in different school grades took part in the contest, AlfajerTV reported.
It was jointly held by the country’s ministry of Awqaf and religious affairs and education ministry.
They competed in the category of recitation of the Holy Quran while observing the rules of Tajweed, Sawt (beautiful voice) and Lahn (rhythm).
A number of experts from the Awqaf and religious affairs ministry served as members of the competition’s panel of arbiters.
A senior official from each of the two ministries supervised the contest, whose winners are slated to be named and awarded in a ceremony soon.
Quranic activities are very common in Palestine, both in the Gaza Strip and in occupied territories, with Quran recitation and memorization programs held all over the year.
