TEHRAN (IQNA) – A memorial service was held in Egypt on Tuesday for the son of legendary Quran reciter Abdul Basit Abdul Samad.

A number of prominent qaris of the country, including Ahmed Ahmed Noaina attended the commemoration, Youm7 website reported.
The Al-Hamidiya al-Shazliya Mosque in the city of Giza hosted the memorial.
Khaled Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, who had been suffering from diabetes for a longtime and gotten critically ill in recent weeks, died on Monday.
In a message on Monday, Egypt’s Quran Radio offered condolences to the Abdul Basit family and prayed for divine mercy for Khaled.
Egypt’s Association of Quran reciters and Memorizers also issued a message of condolences over the death of Abdul Basit’s son.
