Abdel Alim Fasada; An Egyptian Qari Who Traveled to Many Countries to Recite Quran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Sheikh Abdel Alim Fasada was among Egypt’s top qaris who died on January 16, 2021 after years of striving on the path of the Holy Quran.

Born in 1947 in the town of Bila in Kafr El-Shaikh Governorate, he learned the Quran by heart at the age of ten,

He then studied Tajweed rules and Quran recitation with Sheikh Yusuf Shata.

Later, Fasada strated teaching Quranic sciences at Al-Azhar while also serving as the special qari of Al-Ma’adawi Mosque in his hometown.

According to his son, Fasada traveled to many countries for Quran recitation in the holy month of Ramadan, including Brazil, Spain, Germany and many Arab and Muslim countries, and was known as the best Quranic ambassador of Egypt.

He was friends with many other prominent qaris like Sheikh Ragheb Mustafa Ghalwash, Sheikh Mohammed Abdul Wahab al-Tantawi, and Sheikh Ahmed Ahmed Nuaina.

In 1999, he and another qari Sheikh Mahmoud Sidiq Minshawi traveled to Palestine with both reciting the Quran at Al-Aqsa Mosque during the nights of Ramadan.

Fasada’s son says his father would start the morning every day with prayers and recitation of the Quran.

He said his father was keen on doing Khatm Quran (reading the Quran from beginning to end) and recited the Holy Book until the last day of his life.

He added that his father was suffering from a heart condition and despite doctors’ advice that he should abandon Quran recitation, he wished to die while reciting the Holy Book.

Speaking about Sheikh Fasada, Sheikh Ahmed Ahmed Nuaina says that he had full mastery over Quran recitation skills and had a beautiful voice as well.
