Bint Maktoum Quran Competition Wraps Up

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 23rd edition of the Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Holy Quran competition concluded in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday.

On the last day of the contest, 9 men competed at the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) Hall in Al Mamzar district of Dubai, and 9 women competed at the Women’s Renaissance Association in Dubai, Al-Khalij website reported.

Ibrahim Muhammad Bu Melha, the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, as well as a large number of people were present at the contest’s venues on the last day.

The closing ceremony in which winners will be announced and awarded is slated to be held on January 23.

Two panels of judges for men and women assessed the performances of the contenders, who competed in categories of memorization of the entire Quran, memorization of 20 Juzes (parts), memorization of 10 Juzes, memorization of five Juzes (for Emirati citizens), memorization of five Juzes (for over 10-year-old residents), and memorization of three Juzes citizens above 10 years old.

The Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Holy Quran competition is one of the main Quranic events organized by the DIHQA annually. It is aimed at encouraging the UAE’s citizens and expatriates to learn, memorize and read the Quran and act upon its teachings.
