TEHRAN (IQNA) – Various programs will be organized in Iran, especially here in the capital Tehran, on Wednesday to commemorate the 44th anniversary of the return from exile of Imam Khomeini (RA), an official said.

Head of Islamic Propagation Coordination Council of Tehran Province, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mohsen Mahmoudi said at a press conference in Tehran on Monday that the programs include a special ceremony at the holy mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf will be the keynote speaker at the event, he added.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mahmoudi noted that the ceremony will start at 9 AM and will be attended by different groups of people, including families of martyrs and members of religious minorities.

There will also be a motorcade from Mehrabad Airport to the Behesht Zahra (SA) Cemetery and flowers will be thrown onto the whole path, the cleric added.

Also at 9:33 on Wednesday, school bells will ring to mark the glorious return home of the Founder of the Islamic Republic after 15 years of exile in 1979, he went on to say.

The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran (February 1 this year) marks the beginning of the Ten Day Fajr (dawn), which culminates with rallies on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

Millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations in February every year marking the anniversary of the victory of the revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 44 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
