TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s Awqaf ministry announced the start of a program dubbed “Quran Recitation Ambassadors in World”.

Holy Quran

In this program, the ministry dispatches top qaris to different countries for recitation of the Holy Quran in the holy month of Ramadan.

A number of qaris have already been sent to other countries for Ramadan Quran recitation. They include Ahmed Ahmed Nuaina, Sheikh Tamim al-Maraqi. Sheikh Hadi al-Husseini, Sheikh Karem al-Hariri and Sheikh Mahmoud Ramadan al-Laythi who have traveled to Algeria, Maldives, the US, Germany and Brazil, respectively.

Their recitations in those countries will be broadcast live on Naas satellite TV channel, according to the ministry.

The channel will also broadcast sermons and religious speeches by Egyptian scholars and preachers for viewers around the world.

Ramadan (which is likely to start on March 23 this year) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

The Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) heart in this month.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.

They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.

Every year in Ramadan, Egyptian qaris are sent to countries around the world in Ramadan for recitation of Quran and attending Quranic programs.
