TEHRAN (IQNA) – Two men convicted of blasphemy, disrespecting the Holy Quran, and insulting Islam, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and other Muslim sanctities have been executed in Iran.

Mizan news agency, which is linked to the Iranian Judiciary, reported on Monday that the executed men were Yousef Mehrdad and Sadrollah Fazeli Zare’. It did not mention when they were executed.

The two were running several online groups that were against religion and aimed at spreading hatred of Islam, promoting atheism and mocking Muslim values, according to Mizan.

Mehrdad had personally created an online group that was dedicated to Islamophobia, burning the Holy Quran and desecrating Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his Infallible Household (AS), and he was using two different user accounts for this purpose, the report said.

One of the accounts was connected to an Iranian mobile phone number, while the other was connected to a virtual French number.

Detailed and extensive investigations, along with his written confessions, showed that Mehrdad had been very active in encouraging atheism and insulting religious sacred things.

In one case, he burned a copy of the Quran. He was apparently the admin of at least 15 anti-Islam online groups.

He said, while being interrogated, that he had been aided and abetted by Fazeli Zare’.

The latter also used a virtual French number to run online anti-religion groups.
