TEHRAN (IQNA) – The happenings around us have benefits or harms for us but that is not a reliable criterion for determining whether an event is good or bad.

One’s Interests Can’t Be Proper Criterion for Determining Good or Bad

A breeze from the sea may make the beach humid and unbearable to those living in the coastal area but it continues on its way and refreshes the air elsewhere.

Wind may break a branch of a tree somewhere and cause some damage but it takes fresh air to faraway places.

Rain may destroy ants’ home on its path but it quenches the thirst of the land and refreshes the world. Can we ignore its so many benefits just because it may destroy the home of ants?

Can the ant complain and chant slogans against the sun, the ocean, the cloud and rain? Would it not be out of selfishness?

Such protests arise when we look at events from our own perspective and from the angle of our own interests.

It is as if the whole world should act in my way and according to my desire. Everything should be in line with my interests, and only with my interests today.

Sometimes problems bring benefits for our future but we only want immediate results to be satisfied.

Therefore our limited interests cannot be good criterion to determine whether an event is good or bad. Only one who has dominance over all beings and their characteristics, features and needs can have proper judgment about an event being good or bad.
