TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Al-Aqsa Flood Operation launched by Hamas against Israel was a response to a century of the Zionist regime’s crimes against Palestinians, a political analyst said.

Abbas Khameyar

Speaking in an interview with IQNA, Abbas Khameyar, who is the cultural and social deputy of the University of Religions and Denominations, said the atrocities being committed by Israel in Gaza today are nothing new but they are the continuation of the crimes that began in 1917 with the Balfour Declaration.

The Al-Aqsa Flood Operation was a reaction to more than 100 years of the Zionist regime’s killing of people, murdering of children, destroying, cutting off water and electricity, etc, he stated.

He said despite this fact, the Zionist regime tries to sweep all those crimes Palestine under the carpet and pretend that the Hamas operation was that initiated the recent war.

Khameyar noted that the Gaza Strip has been under Israeli siege for 17 years and the reaction by the people of the coastal enclave against illegal Zionist settlements built on occupied lands was their legitimate right.

“In fact, this (the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation) was not an offensive but was a natural act of defense.”

The analyst said the conditions have changed forever since the Hamas operation on October 7 as the Zionist regime’s purported political, economic and military grandeur has been shattered and it no longer can sell its appearance of invincibility t the world.

The new conditions will bring about fundamental developments and make the Zionist regime face new realities even in its ties with the countries that have made concessions to it, he stated.

Khameyar further referred to the Israeli brutalities in its attacks on Gaza and said the Zionists have dropped over 17,000 tons of bombs in the enclave, which is one of the most densely-populated areas in the world.

This is twice the weight of bombs dropped on Vietnam and this shows the true nature of the Zionist regime to the world, he said, adding that it also points to the regime’s weakness and its military, political, and security failure.

There is no security, military and political expert in the region who believes the Zionists can make up for their defeat in the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation through such atrocities, he underlined.

The Israeli attacks on Gaza have so far killed nearly 9,000 Palestinians and left over 23,000 others wounded, according to the Palestinian ministry.
