Mohammad Ansari, head of the center, said that 362 contenders were from foreign countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Iraq, Republic of Azerbaijan, India, Nigeria, Lebanon, Tanzania, Ukraine, Spain and Syria.
He made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the 17th edition of the contest, held at the holy shrine of Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (AS) in Rey, south of Tehran, on Friday.
He said some 9,000 Quran activists participated in this edition, competing in different the categories such as Quran recitation, memorization (different levels), Tarteel, and Quranic concepts.
A total of 72 Quran experts assessed the performances of the contestants in various categories, the official stated.
He also noted that the organizers plan to introduce new changes to the competition, which will be implemented in the next year’s edition.
