IQNA – One of the experts and arbiters of “Mahfel”, a Quranic show that will air during the holy month of Ramadan, says he was surprised with the high quality of guests in the second season.

Hassanayn al-Hulw about Mahfel

The highly anticipated second season of the special program "Mahfel" is set to grace the screens of IRIB’s TV 3 channel during the sacred month of Ramadan, just before sunset, offering a spiritual oasis for viewers as they prepare to break their fast.

With a primary focus on the Quran, the program aims to enrich the brief moments of respite for fasting individuals through insightful discussions and captivating recitations.

A key element contributing to the program's allure is the inclusion of Quranic experts, particularly notable foreign scholars such as Sayyid Hassanayn al-Hulw from Iraq and Rizwan Darwish from Syria. The program also features two Iranian experts, namely renowned qaris Hamed Shakernejad and Ahmad Abolghasemi.

Speaking to IQNA, al-Hulw said that the entire team behind "Mahfel" aims to draw “several times more viewers” to its second season compared to the first.

“Following the conclusion of the inaugural season of "Mahfel," I harbored concerns about the potential production of a second season and where its content would be sourced,” he said, adding, “The subjects covered in the first season were exceptionally well-received, so when filming for the second season commenced, I was pleasantly surprised by the caliber of guests invited to discuss Quranic topics.”

“Both the Quran reciters and memorizers, as well as the activists sharing insights about the Quran, were unique. This led me to believe that the second season of "Mahfel" would garner even greater viewership than the first,” he added.

Some people suggested, after the first season ended, that they wanted the show to keep going all year long, maybe every week or month, he added.

According to the latest statistics, over 30 million Iranians tuned in to watch "Mahfel," al-Hulw said, adding, “Additionally, we had viewers from foreign countries, primarily from Arab nations, but also from non-Arabic speaking countries such as the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia.”
