IQNA – Numerous verses in the Holy Quran relate to the personality of Imam Hussein (AS) and the profound meanings behind the Ashura uprising.

In Surah Al-Buruj, God honors martyrs and condemns cruelty. The Quran states: "The companions of the pit were killed" (verse 4). These were heartless individuals who threw believers into a valley and burned them, watching as they suffered. The Quran condemns such heartlessness, suggesting that it is justifiable to curse oppressors for their actions against the faithful.

The Quran also says: "The wrongdoers will surely know which turn they will be returning to (Hell)" (Surah Ash-Shu'ara, verse 227). This means that oppressors will eventually face the consequences of their actions. The event of Karbala serve as a poignant example of this verse.

Additionally, the Quran notes: "We do not waste the wage of the righteous" (Surah Al-A'raf, verse 170). Imam Hussein (AS) sacrificed everything for God, and in return, God bestowed upon him the highest honors. Another verse praises those who endure hardships: "Who are patient in misfortune and hardship and during the time of courage” (Surah Baqarah, verse 177). Karbala was filled with immense suffering, yet Imam Hussein (AS) and his followers remained steadfast.

Similarly, Imam Hussein (AS) holds a revered position, with his legacy marked worldwide. During Muharram, countless gatherings occur where people learn about the Quran and Islam, feed the hungry, remember the oppressed, and denounce the oppressors. These are the blessings of Imam Hussein (AS).

The Quran quotes Jesus (AS): "He made me to be blessed wherever I am" (Surah Maryam, verse 31), indicating divine blessings in all places. Like the blessed Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS) and the events of Karbala are also profoundly blessed.
