The 44th edition of the King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation of the Holy Quran commenced in the holy city with the preliminary qualification round on Friday.
On Monday, Mohammad Hossein Behzadfar, who is representing Iran in the memorization of the entire Quran category, went on the stage to answer the questions of the panel of judges in the preliminary round.
He was asked to read from memory five half pages of the Quran in Surahs Al-Nisa, At-Tawbah, Nahl, Ash-Shuara, and Al-Hadid.
He performed the task with no problems and made no mistakes in reciting the verses.
With his good performance, Behzadfar is expected to easily make it to the final round.
Mohammad Mehdi Rezaei is Iran’s other representative who competes in the category of memorization of 15 Juzes (parts) of the Quran.

Contestants are vying for honors in five categories, with a total prize purse of SAR4 million.
