The legislators say the committee should comprise senior experts and scholars of the Al-Azhar Islamic Center, Al-Jumhuriya website reported.
They say one of the tasks of the committee would be issuing permission to qaris for the recitation of the Quran.
Hannan Hassan, one of the MPs, says the qaris affiliated to the Association of Quran Reciters should take exams to renew the permission given to them for recitation of the Quran.
This comes following anger expressed by people on social media over mistakes made by qaris while reciting the Quran in radio and TV channels and in other media.
They have questioned the criteria used to choose qaris for recitation of the Quran in media.
Quran activists in Egypt have called for authorities to take action against such qaris, with some calling for a permanent ban against them.
Earlier, lawmaker Khalid Tantawi said the law should be strictly enforced against those who recite the Quran incorrectly.
He urged the association to introduce new and decisive regulations to prevent errors in recitation.
He appreciated the efforts made by the head of the association, Mohamed Salih Rashad, in this regard but expressed regret over the repetition of mistakes by qaris while reciting Quran.
