Int’l Conference Slams West’s Double Standards on Issue of Palestine

IQNA – Experts and scholars taking part in an international conference in Tehran slammed the West for its double standards when it comes to the issue of Palestine.

The 9th edition of the international conference on American Human Rights from the Perspective of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution with a focus on Operation True Promise, Sayed Hassan Nasrallah and regional order was held at the IRIB International Conference Hall on Wednesday.

The participants at the conference deplored the Israeli regime’s genocidal war against Palestinians and the West’s support for it.

Nasser Abu Sharif, the representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Tehran, said in a speech that the United States is offering all-out support to the Zionist regime, helping it to commit crimes.

The US support is not limited to supplying weapons but also includes political and other types of support, he said.

Israel is never punished for its crimes as the West has adopted double standards regarding the issue of Palestine, he stated, adding that justice should be for all, including Palestinians.

Abu Sharif further said the Israeli regime, with support for the US, has extended its terrorist war to southern Lebanon and if the international community does not stop it, the regime will keep committing crimes.

He called for a return to the foundations of human rights and the implementation of justice about Palestine, Lebanon and other parts of the world where people are being oppressed.

Sheikh Ghazi Yusuf Hunaina, the chairman of the board of trustees of the Lebanese Muslim Ulema Association, was another speaker at the conference.

He elaborated on different aspects of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayed Hassan Nasrallah’s character, saying the martyred leader of the resistance movement strived for unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims.

He said Nasrallah had good interaction with Shia and Sunni scholars in the Lebanese Muslim Ulema Association and also made efforts to unite Muslims and Christians in the country because the main weapon in confrontation with the enemy is maintaining unity.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Hunaina said the leaders of resistance in Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Palestine and Iran emphasize the fact that the best way forward is confronting the Zionist regime as it continues its campaign of genocide and atrocities.
