IQNA – An Australian Muslim activist said in order to save Palestine, it is necessary that all Muslims in the world get united.

Keysar Trad, the founder of the Islamic Friendship Association of Australia and the former president of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils

Speaking to IQNA during the 38th International Islamic Unity Conference, held in Tehran last month, Keysar Trad said Muslims must make all-out efforts to save their brothers and sisters in Palestine.

It is quite clear who the enemy of the Muslim world is, he said, adding that the enemy is the one that is attacking Palestine, Lebanon and Syria, and seeks to attack the Islamic Republic of Iran as well

It is an enemy that has no conscience, knows no humanity, and is not bound by any convention or treaty, he stated.

Trad, who is the founder of the Islamic Friendship Association of Australia and the former president of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, underlined the importance of unity in the Islamic world to counter the enemy.

He said different Islamic schools of thought are unanimous in their love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) and the need to follow the teachings of the Holy Quran.

These should be the basis and foundation for unity among Muslims, he said.

He noted that Islamic unity does not mean people should change their denomination but that they should stick to the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet (PBUH), who has taught us compassion, fraternity and serving one another.

Muslims should set aside their differences in order to achieve unity, he added.

They should avoid sideline issues that cause discord and instead focus on principle issues, the Australian activist went on to say.

Trad also talked about activities to enhance Muslim unity in Australia and said the Muslim community in the country has made a lot of efforts for this purpose, including those by late Sheikh Tajjedin Hilali who was a member of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

Hundreds of Shia and Sunni scholars attended the 38th Islamic Unity Conference held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in the Iranian capital Tehran on September 19-21.

They exchanged views on the latest developments in the world of Islam, with the issue of Palestine remaining as the focal point of the debates.
