IQNA – The 13th Kuwait International Quran Award, featuring competitions in Quran memorization, recitation, and Tajweed, will take place from November 13 to 20, 2024.

Bandar Al-Nasafi, head of the competition’s executive committee, spoke about the event’s significance during a press conference, highlighting Kuwait’s dedication to promoting the Quran and Islamic teachings.

He described the international competition as a continuation of Kuwait’s commitment to Islam and its efforts to elevate the Quran’s status within global communities.

Since its establishment in 2010, the competition has encouraged young people worldwide to engage with the Quran through memorization, recitation, and Tajweed. Al-Nasafi detailed the competition’s five main categories: entire Quran memorization, memorization with ten styles of recitation, recitation, youth memorization, and a special category for the best technical project serving the Quran.

This year, judges and participants from 85 countries are expected, with 127 confirmed competitors from 75 nations.

The exhibit will showcase various memorization methods, schools of Quranic study, and advancements in memorization techniques, offering attendees insight into the Quran's educational and cultural heritage.

The event is organized by Kuwait’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

The 12th edition of the contest was held last November, featuring 121 Quran qaris and memorizers from 70 countries.
