Iran National Quran Contest: Preliminary Stage in Women Section Concludes

IQNA – The preliminary stage of the women’s section in Iran’s 47th National Quran Competition concluded on Saturday.

Evaluations by the panel of judges in the men’s section will continue until Monday, according to the organizers. 

In this stage, pre-recorded files of the contestants’ are watched and scored by the members of the panel to select those who can make it to the final round.

There were 234 recorded files assessed in the women section and the judges in the men’s section are evaluating 432 files before announcing the names of those qualifying for the finals.

A total of 121 men and 91 women are expected to compete in different categories in the final round.   

It is scheduled to be held in the northwestern city of Tabriz in December.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s National Quran Competition is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.

It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.

The top winners of the competition will represent Iran in the international Quran competitions across the world.

This year’s competition is held in commemoration of the “Martyrs of Service”, namely former President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions who were killed in a helicopter crash in May.
