It was launched at the Al-Manshiyah Mosque in the Siwa region of Marsa Matrouh Governorate, Al-Watan daily reported.
Sheikh Hassan Muhammad Abdul Basir Arafa, the representative of the Ministry of Awqaf in Egypt the governorate, inaugurated the Quran school in a ceremony attended by of 200 Quran students.
The initiative is part of efforts to implement the directives of Awqaf Minister Usama Al-Azhari, aimed at revitalizing Quranic schools across the country.
Sheikh Arafa said that the plan to train 100 Quran memorizers annually will last for five years and there will be a graduation ceremony every year.
The plan to revive Quranic schools would lead to the creation of a healthy environment for young people and their proper education based on the Quranic tradition “in which our ancestors and scholars were nurtured,” he stated.
Strengthening the engagement of the younger generation with the Quran and its teachings by guiding them towards the Quran, recitation, and acting upon the prophetic tradition “The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it” are among the objectives of this initiative, he noted.
