President Urges Iran-Tajikistan Cooperation on Resolving Muslim World Issues

IQNA – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described the expansion of relations between Tehran and Dushanbe as a way to resolve many issues and emphasized that the two sides can collaborate and share ideas on addressing the challenges facing the Muslim world, including matters related to Afghanistan and Syria.

High-ranking officials of Iran and Tajikistan held talks in Dushanbe on January 16, 2025, during an official visit by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Tajikistan.

 

The president made the remark at the beginning of a meeting of the two countries’ high-ranking officials Thursday morning during an official visit to Tajikistan.

Expressing his happiness at being in Tajikistan, he said, “Due to the warmth and friendship I feel toward you, I believe I am in my own country, as if you are a part of us in another place.”

Iran and Tajikistan can have deeper and broader cooperation in the fields of science, economy, culture, politics, and security, he said, adding that the agreements signed today will lead to further expansion of bilateral relations.

Emomali Rahmon, the president of Tajikistan, for his part, emphasized the importance of the shared civilizational background of the two countries, stating that the people of Iran and Tajikistan have many cultural and historical commonalities, and that the discussions between the high-ranking delegations of both sides can pave the way for extensive cooperation.
